The owner of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators, Nadeem Omar, has stated that both Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Ahmed were willing to play under each other’s captaincy, if Babar had joined the franchise.
According to Omar, Babar is a confident individual who stays focused on his work and has great chemistry with Sarfaraz. Omar added that the franchise had tried to sign Babar for the last three years but was unable to reach a deal.
The owner also discussed why the franchise has failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last two seasons, attributing it to availability and injury issues, a problematic schedule, and a disturbed captain. However, he is hopeful that the team will perform well this year with a settled captain and a good team combination.
Omar believes that Sarfaraz Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan can play together in the Pakistan team in Tests and ODIs. He feels that having Sarfaraz in the middle order will be beneficial for Pakistan on spin pitches.
