Babar Azam, the captain and top batsman of the Pakistan cricket team, has decided to focus on improving his batting skills rather than attend the wedding of his friend and teammate, Shadab Khan.
Babar was spotted practicing at the Hanif Muhammad Regional National Cricket Academy in Karachi while the wedding ceremony of Shadab Khan was taking place in Islamabad. The wedding caused a disruption in the cricket schedule as the first practice sessions for Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United were cancelled as most of the players were unable to make it to Karachi due to the wedding.
Shadab Khan’s wedding, which is scheduled for Friday, has attracted several famous cricketers including Babar Azam and former Test captain Sarfaraz Ahmed who will be traveling to Islamabad for the event. Shadab is marrying a British citizen named Malaika, who is the daughter of former Test cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq.
In the past two months, three players from the Pakistan cricket team have gotten married, including Haris Rauf, Shan Masood, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. Shadab thanked his fans for respecting his private life through social media.
It is worth noting that the teams were initially supposed to practice at the National Stadium at 1 PM, but the sessions were cancelled due to the wedding.
