Hasan Ali, a fast bowler for Pakistan, expressed his belief that Shadab Khan, his captain on the Islamabad United team, is prepared to take on the role of national team captain. When questioned by the media about Shadab’s suitability for the position, Hasan stated that Shadab is always up for a challenge and has already shown his leadership abilities as a captain in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He added that if given the opportunity, Shadab will perform well as Pakistan’s captain.
The current national team captain, Babar Azam, has faced criticism for his recent performance as captain, including a winless Test series against England and New Zealand and a loss in the recent ODI series against New Zealand.
This has led to speculation in the media that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may consider changing captains in one of the formats.
Shadab is already the vice-captain of Pakistan in limited-overs matches, but missed the recent ODI series against New Zealand due to injury, with Shan Masood being named as the vice-captain for that series.
Babar Azam will continue to lead the Peshawar Zalmi in the upcoming PSL, which takes place in Pakistan from February 13th to March 19th.
