Shoaib Malik has urged Pakistan’s selection committee to consider including Iftikhar Ahmed, a right-hand batsman, in the men’s ODI team. Iftikhar showed impressive form in the Bangladesh Premier League, hitting his first T20 century and smashing Wahab Riaz for six sixes in an exhibition match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. Malik believes that Iftikhar can be an essential member of Pakistan’s ODI team in the upcoming 2023 World Cup in India.
Malik also clarified that he has retired from Test and ODI cricket and has no intention of returning to those formats. He is currently focused on playing T20 cricket and wants to score 15,000 runs in T20s before retiring. He hopes to enjoy playing cricket for Pakistan again but has no expectations from anyone.
